How Gas Supply Charges Are Calculated

The Gas Supply Charge is the cost we pay for the natural gas that we deliver to our customers. We have two rate periods per year. The summer period is from May 1st to October 31st and the winter period is from November 1st to April 30th. We set the Gas Supply Charge for each period based on agreements with our suppliers and forecasts using the best information we have available at the time. The new rate is then reviewed and approved by the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission.

Per our tariff (rules and regulations), we have the authority to increase or lower our Gas Supply Charge on a monthly basis; however, cumulative adjustments upward shall not exceed 25% of the NHPUC approved Gas Supply Charge.
