On the second Friday of every month, we host dinner at a soup kitchen in Derry. A group of our employees get together to purchase, prepare, and serve dinner to local residents in need. They also clean up after dinner. We are looking forward to our next host night on Friday, August 10.
On September 21st, the United Way is holding its 3rd annual United We Sleep event to raise awareness and money for homelessness in NH. Eight Liberty Utilities employees will be sleeping overnight on a box on Amherst St in Nashua. All they will be allowed to bring with them is a sleeping bag and the clothes they are wearing. To support our employees and our partners at The United Way, we will be donating $1,500 to the cause.
On June 8, our Manchester yard hosted a BBQ for employees with a special twist. In addition to some great food, the event featured a dunk tank where employees could pay for a shot to dunk their Manager or Supervisor. Employees raised $1,000 and will be donating that money to one of the local charities we are involved with.
On May 22nd, 250 Liberty Utilities employees, along with Red Cross employees/volunteers, worked to put together over 350 boxes filled with items donated by our employees. Donated items included shaving cream, shampoo and conditioner, t-shirts, snacks, and more. In addition to donated items, employees and some of their children wrote letters and took photos to be included in the boxes.
Once packaged, employees formed an assembly line to move the stacked boxes from inside into the Red Cross van. The items will go to to U.S. military members stationed at Camp Lemmonnier in Djibouti and Camps Arifjan and Buehring in Kuwait. This was such a meaningful event to all of our employees, especially the 50+ veterans that are currently employed with us. We are truly honored we were able to be a part of supporting the men and women keeping our country safe.
Liberty staff took to the streets on April 20th to help with neighborhood beautification and clean-up as part of In-Town Manchester’s Adopt-a-Block program. The group spread mulch, raked leaves and removed garbage from Commercial Street to the River Walk.
