Londonderry, NH – July 18, 2018 –
Liberty Utilities announced today that work will begin to replace an older underground powerline near Dartmouth College. The new line will enhance reliability and make any future repairs or maintenance quicker and easier.

According to John Shore, Spokesman for Liberty Utilities, the current powerline is direct buried. “This means a trench was excavated and the line was simply placed in the ground,” said Shore. “If there is a fault or failure or any type, excavation is required in order to make repairs.”

The new underground powerline will be placed in a duct and manhole system that allow access to the wire at several junction points. Liberty will have the ability to make repairs or even replace sections of the wire without any excavation.

The work will be performed along North Main Street from Wheelock to Webster. “Because this is a heavily traveled area, we will be doing much of the work at night to minimize the impact on traffic,” said Shore.

The work is expected to begin July 22nd and continue through mid-September.
